Sad Chefs Update Nov. 16th, 2005 @ 09:09 pm
Jesus Armas the creator of Casa Armas in Malate with other several brances in Manila has died.

He got into a car accident last oct 31 in Spain and passed away after a long battle in the hospital.

Chef Humphrey Navarro, the former Manila Mandarin chef who just started his own resto called Parallel 45 got a heart attack last month. He is now in stable condition but still in the hospital.

Pray for these great chefs

Prins Albert Nov. 14th, 2005 @ 10:34 pm
Prins Albert resto at the new world hotel has a all you can eat lunch for 1200++ (started last june 1)

No buffet but you can order anything of the special menu for 1200. A selection of appetizers, soups, salads, main courses and some good looking dessert cakes.

So i ordered for starters: smoked salmon tartar. Scallops & prawn salad, mussels in white wine

main course; 2 orders of rib eye steak, lamb rack and a veal dish. Yeah i only ate the meat!!! forget the sidings man!
For dessert; some lovely chocolate cake.

According to the dinner menu i ate for 7700 bucks (if you can believe they really charge 1700 for a rib eye steak)

Ok the service is SUPER SLOW with only 3 tables. They really don't want you to eat there because the speed really sucked. With 2 white chefs and a 1/2 dozen of locals it wasn't that great. I mean the steak is good, well of course what can go wrong with grilling Angus beef. The lamb was ok also but the veal sucked.

Will i go back? Yes but i will only eat like 4 steaks and salad! haha a kilo of Angus!

cheers, check it out until it last because i talked to the restaurant manager and discussed that the food cost is sky high (if you know what that is), like 70% while normally this should be 25-30% max.....any way

thats all,

I tried something called Royal Bibingka when I was in Vigan and absolutely loved it. Does anyone know a place in Metro Manila that sells it?

Hi guys!

Just wondering if you might know where to find Foie Gras that's cheaper than Santis'.
I'm only buying retail amounts, so any suggestion is appreciated.

i used to get Choriburger each and every day i passed their Katipunan
branch ages ago.
and their chocolate chip squares were the best!

is there some choriburger alternative that'll satisfy the craving? :(
